October.

October is my favorite month. The light and leaves paint a picture I could look at forever. You step outside, and the whole world smells like a big cup of tea. Life though, is not so picturesque as the light and leaves, is it? Sometimes I struggle to write these posts because the photos and...

It Is Good

“If only I could be a better mom.” “If only I’d been a better friend.” “If only…” these words keep me awake at night, ever reminding of all I’ve done wrong. Every time I get my footing, life washes me out to sea again. “You’re not enough.” “It’s your fault,” my brain screams relentlessly.

You Can Trust Me

I always get up early hoping for a few quiet minutes before my children wake up. I’m usually successful at the waking up early part but rarely successful at getting ahead of my kids. They fully endorse Anna’s words in Frozen: “The sun’s awake so I’m awake.” And so they are, every morning at the...

A Merciful Mess

Yesterday started out as a really hard day. I was ready to give up and forget the whole thing by the time we finished breakfast. We pulled ourselves together and went to church anyway. And by the time we left church, there was some light breaking through the hurt of the morning. Once home, we...

Within Reach

I realized yesterday that my children just assume I can always hear them. A Soft Answer Goes a Long Way

Central Massachusetts Last night, as I put my five-year-old son to bed, he told me he’d had a good day. I agreed, it’d been a good day. He went on to tell me that every day his heart is broken but today was a good day because he saw my joy and wanted to follow...

I Surrender

Central Massachusetts 2019 is going down in flames over here at the Andrews’ house. Honestly, the last eight weeks have been a slow burn. It figures though, because I chose a word for the upcoming year and that word is surrender. I knew in my gut that was an iffy word to run with —...

When Your Faith Feels Like a Foreign Country

Central Massachusetts The Good and the Bad One thing I love about social media is the opportunity to watch and glean from women who are more mature than me in their faith. I’ve learned so much from both older women and women my own age who know and love the Lord well. But on the...
